Is your website ready for AI search? Five fixes for this week

A growing share of B2B buying journeys now starts with a question to ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews rather than a search. There is no page two in an answer. Your site is either cited, or it is not in the conversation.

B2B feels this first because B2B buying is research-heavy. The shortlist is being drafted by a model that read your competitor's FAQ and skipped your hero animation.

What answer engines actually pull

Models lift content that is easy to quote. In practice that means:

  • Headings written as the question the buyer asks
  • A direct answer in the first sentence, then the detail
  • FAQ blocks, tables and numbers rather than paragraphs of positioning
  • A visible date and a named author with a reason to be trusted
  • Consistent terms for your category, so the model knows what you are

None of this is new. It is what good content always looked like, with less tolerance for fluff.

Five fixes for this week

  1. Turn H2s into questions and answer them in one sentence. Then expand. Your pricing page, product page and top three articles first.
  2. Add an FAQ block to every key page. Omni's FAQ module outputs structured data, so the questions are readable by machines as well as people.
  3. Show the author and the date. Turn both on in your blog settings and keep the dates honest. Update the article when the facts change.
  4. Put comparisons in tables. "How are you different?" answered in a comparison table is far more likely to be quoted than the same content in prose.
  5. Give every core term a definitive page. One page that explains the thing your buyers search for, linked from everywhere you mention it.

Organize the blog as clusters, not categories

An answer engine trusts a site that covers a topic properly. Pick five topics you want to be cited for, write one pillar page per topic, and group the articles under it. Omni's blog filter chips are the cluster labels: Not "News" and "Updates", but the questions your buyers ask.

How you know it is working

  • Referral traffic from AI domains in your HubSpot traffic analytics
  • Your brand appearing in answers when you ask the models the questions your buyers ask
  • HubSpot's AEO reporting, if your portal has it, for mentions and citations over time
